GONE FISHIN’…MTW closed for the day!
No this is not fake news, and yes MTW’s COO Ed Cooke did actually declare the company “shut down” on September 17, for the entire day. Why? Well, because it was the 7th Annual “Hooked on a Cure” (HOAC) Fishing Tournament to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in their effort to help the thousands of children and adults living with Type 1 diabetes. Be sure to visit hoactampa.com for the full backstory on why JDRF matters to MTW.
Since 2015, the team at MTW has been supporting the JDRF cause through their selflessness and dedication to making a difference. Closing the company for the day to attend a fishing tournament fundraiser for juvenile diabetes speaks volumes about the owners commitment to philanthropy and community. MTW is proud to prioritize such important causes ahead of business operations and invest time in initiatives that bring about positive change in the lives of those in need. The MTW employees support this vital cause, not only through their donations but also by participating in this fun, friendly, and slightly competitive “because it’s for bragging rights and real trophies” fishing tournament each year.
Cooke said, “Our company is honored to be in attendance at such an impactful fundraising event. It is always a heartwarming experience to see the kids out fishing with their parents. They have such contagious smiles and there is nothing like it. I am so thankful to everyone at HOAC, their sponsors, the donors, the participants, the volunteers, and the best boat captains in the area, who all come together on this day just so the kids can go fishing!”
We received a great follow-up email from Lindsey Suarez, Director of Non-Profit Enterprises at Hooked on a Cure, notifying us that HOAC exceeded their fundraising goal for this fishing event and will be donating $75,000 to JDRF as a result.
Hooked on a Cure is a community-driven non-profit in the Tampa Bay area.
